It was a pleasure to observe MAGGIE finishing in first place as I put these thoughts into words.
In ZRS’s effort to elevate our metrics, I have dedicated significant time to developing a trainer evaluation scorecard. This scorecard combines various statistics to produce an “efficiency” rating. It is important to note that this rating is mainly independent of the quality of stock, as that would not be a fair assessment. In fact, this evaluation punishes the trainers with the best stock as they can’t drop (i.e., expensive pedigrees, purchase prices) as easily as trainers with claimers.
We intend to continue collaborating with several of our existing trainers; however, all trainers will undergo a thorough evaluation based on the horse assessment scorecards I have provided. Those who perform the least effectively will be removed from our roster. In the future, we aim to incorporate trainers with the highest scores. Please refer to the attached image showcasing the top-rated ZRS trainers according to the complex rating system I have developed.
This information is extremely sensitive, so I will only share the list of the top performers for now. We will reach our ambitious objectives if our current trainers can deliver precise assessment scorecards. With that in mind, you can expect to see some claims and auction purchases with the top trainers on this list soon.
ZRS has experienced unprecedented levels of inefficiency in its operations and execution. This business’s competitive nature and high costs make such inefficiencies unacceptable.
I had discussions with both Saffie Joseph and Carlos David, which were quite insightful. Notably, Carlos achieved the highest score in the ZRS scoring system. His daily rates are very competitive, at $120 in New York and $100 in Florida, with minimal additional fees. He maintains low veterinary expenses and charges a commission of 11% for first place, 10% for second and third, and does not take any commission for fourth and fifth places. In contrast, many trainers with lower scores tend to have higher daily rates ($125-135), numerous additional charges on our invoices, and commission rates ranging from 12% to 13% for wins, extending to fifth place.
As business expenses continue to increase, the need for optimal efficiency has become increasingly vital. Maintaining accountability is of utmost importance and more crucial than ever.
Top Score Trainers attached. Note: I choose not to reveal the trainers with lower scores, given that my scoring methodology is subjective. My intention is to avoid any negative impact on the reputations of these trainers by making their scores public. That said, we will be utilizing trainers from this list, as well as those we currently work with, that satisfy our horse assessment card requirements.
